In 2008, Thrinicko Beaboa founded africActive while a student in Cape Town, South Africa. A native of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Thrinicko saw a need to serve the community in South Africa and in Congo. Thrinicko was raised in Paris France, he is now a resident in the US with the mission of mobilizing resources to fight hunger and make Los Angeles County a better place

Thrinicko established the Los Angeles County branch of africActive in 2020 to address the growing need for food insecurity in underserved communities during quarantine due to the pandemic. From the related economic fallout and the global pandemic up until today, hunger affects all groups of people regardless of education level, employment status or ethnicity. Due to the soaring costs of essential goods and both housing and transportation in Los Angeles County, many people who work– even families with two incomes – often can’t make ends meet or put enough good food on the table. Our vision is to spread the giving culture, the sharing mentality around so that no one should go hungry in the community.

Mission statement: To mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community.

The africActive a volunteer-led non-profit with a network spans around the world and is transforming lives and communities by offering free resources and services that address immediate and long-term needs - all while spreading the giving culture, sharing a smile, and a fun and supportive environment.

Vision statement:  To spread the giving culture to make our community a better place so that no one should go hungry.

About Unincorporated Coffee Roasters

Roasting sexy fresh coffee in beautiful Altadena.

Alan Janoyan and Arthur Sohrabian had goals when they opened Unincorporated Coffee Roasters in Altadena.

Janoyan developed a passion for coffee and the way it brings people together while working in a coffee shop during college. After graduation, he studied coffee roasting.

Unincorporated Coffee Roasters was launched out of Janoyan’s parents’ garage, where he roasted the beans for the products he vended at area farmers markets. This allowed him to learn about the business of selling coffee while honing his craft, as well as providing an inexpensive way to begin paving the path to a proper shop.

Janoyan asked Sohrabian to assist him with his coffee’s logo and branding and soon Sohrabian was lending at hand at the farmer’s markets, which led to their partnership in the business.

Unincorporated Coffee Roasters is here to bridge the gap between the habitual Starbucks drinker and the intimidating specialty coffee world. Soon after, they'd like to be the first coffee on Mars.
